During your trip you can visit any of the following areas, sights and experience some of the activities:

• The Wadi Hoqain mountain area – The Wadi Hoqain is a unique place where a rare type of rock, peridotite, forms white muddy deposits on the rocks in contact with fresh water. We will have the unique opportunity to bathe in the pools of this natural spa and refresh ourselves at the small waterfalls. If the weather permits, we can see the white deposits, but after heavy rains the water in the basin is usually clear, but without deposits. In the evening we move to the nearby Sahtan Wadi in the foothills of Oman’s highest peaks. This area is known as the ‘Ark of Oman’, as it contains both dramatic mountain scenery and beautiful farming villages. As time permits, we will explore one of the villages.

• Wadi Sahtan Panorama Mountain Trek – A full day mountain trek in the Wadi Sahtan area, you can choose either the more challenging ascent from Huwaib village via a suspension bridge to Wajma village (approx 8 hours, 1000m elevation gain, 16km) or the easier and shorter trek option by arrangement.

• Canyoning with abseiling in the Snake Gorge – In the mystical Snake Gorge you can do canyoning of moderate difficulty, multiple abseiling – the longest 20m, jumping into the water 2 – 3m, climbing over rocks and swimming in pools (time expectation 6 – 7 hours). Alternatively, it is possible to choose a slightly easier option in the left gorge without abseiling or a mountain trek in this area.

• Nakhr Wadi – A short offroading can be arranged from Al Hamra to the deep Nakhr Canyon, where we can spend the whole day. The offroad can be driven to the village of Al Nakhr at the end of the wadi, from there we can go on a shorter scenic trek along the edge of the cliff (now secured with steel cables) to a hidden cave with a small lake.

• The Balcony Walk trek on Jebel Shams Mountain – You can take a comfortable mountain road up Jebel Shams Mountain and then take a panoramic easy trek along the canyon rim, the Balcony Walk. The trail leads to the ruins of an abandoned village under rock overhang and a mountain lake (about 1h30 – 2h walk).

• via ferrata on Jebel Shams mountain – Another activity that can be planned in Jebel Shams mountain is via ferrata, which starts just above the mountain lake and it is the most beautiful Omani via ferrata (time expectation approx. 3h). Ferrata includes mostly vertical climbing with absolutely unique views of the Grand Canyon of Arabia.

• Climb to the top of Oman’s highest mountain Jebel Shams – A full day trek to the highest peak of the Arabian Peninsula, i.e. Sun Mountain, 3009m above sea level. In total, 12 hours or more, depending on the fitness of the participants.On the way we will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon (Wadi Nakhr) and then from the other side to the Wadi Sahtan valley.

• Nizwa Historical Town Visit – You can visit the historical town of Nizwa with its monumental fort and traditional marketplace where we can restock on oriental spices and delicious Omani dates.

• A night in the desert in a Bedouin camp – In the desert area of Wahiba Sands (from Nizwa crossing approx. 2h30), we recommend visiting a genuine Bedouin settlement where time seems to stand still. Here you will enjoy a romantic sunset on the dunes, a Bedouin dinner in a traditional camp and a peaceful evening by the campfire watching the starry sky.

• Canyoning and trekking in the Hawir Wadi – In the wadi, easy canyoning can be planned through the beautiful landscape between massive boulders, imposing cliffs and turquoise pools. For those who are interested, there is the possibility of jumping into the water from the rocks, a natural slide and plenty of swimming. You can spend about 6 hours in the wadi.

• Trekking in the Salmaa Plateau area and expedition to Tahra Cave – you can take an off-road vehicle to the Salmaa Plateau, from where you can go on an approx. 2h trek through the rocky landscape (without much elevation gain) to the huge Tahra Cave, which is part of a several kilometre long cave complex. Pack your headlamps to explore the bowels of this magnificent cave in the first km.

• Tiwi Wadi with its waterfalls – Tiwi Wadi is rightly considered the Garden of Eden of Oman. You can drive up the steep mountain road to the magnificent waterfalls that directly beckon in refreshment. The more adventurous can descend even lower, all the way to the beautiful Lake Mibam.

• Wadi Shab – Another wadi we recommend visiting is the popular and beautiful Wadi Shab.

• Tour Muscat – We recommend leaving a visit to the capital city of Muscat for the last day, when you can see the most important sights (mosque, market, royal palace, etc.) and buy your last souvenirs. Spend the afternoonby the sea, relaxing or doing water sports in Bandar Khiran. Here you can board a traditional fishing boat that will take you around the coves and islets, stopping for swimming and snorkelling.
