Tour program:
1.-2. DAY 2: BY AIR PRAGUE – CUBA; CAPITAL HAVANA – UNESCO
Day 1: Air from Prague to Havana; transfer and accommodation in a hotel in the city centre – in the “Habana Vieja” district.
Day 2.
3.-4. DAY 4 – 4: VIÑALES VALLEY IN THE PROVINCE OF PIÑAR DEL RIO – UNESCO
Day 3: Drive west to the karst area to the town of Viñales; walk through the valley with mogotes (UNESCO), visit a tobacco farm, the giant rock painting Mural de la Prehistoría.
Day 4: Cave of St. Thomas (Gran Caverna de Santo Tomás); Piñar del Río – visit to a cigar factory; return to Havana, if time permits, complete the tour of the capital.
5.-6. DAY 6: CIENFUEGOS – UNESCO, SANTA CLARA
Day 5: Transfer to Cienfuegos, on the way visit the Bay of Pigs: Cueva de los Peces – a salty natural lake surrounded by dense vegetation, with the possibility of swimming; Playa Girón – the site of the failed American invasion that was supposed to overthrow the Castro regime in 1961.
Cienfuegos (UNESCO) – historical town built by French settlers, with exhibition buildings; tour of the centre: the Thomas Terry Theatre, the Cathedral of Conception, the Prado main street. Punta Gorda Peninsula: the quaint oriental-inspired Palacio del Valle.
Day 6: Laguna de Guanaroca – lake with a variety of birds (flamingos, pelicans, national bird tokororo, etc.); Santa Clara – Che Guevara Memorial; train derailment from the decisive battle that forced Fulgencio Batista to leave the country in 1958; arrival in Trinidad (UNESCO), evening city walk, optional evening sitting at Casa de la Música with live music in the open air.
7.-8. DAY 7: TRINIDAD – UNESCO, SANCTÍ SPIRITUS
Day 7: Departure to the Topes de Collantes mountain area, Sierra del Escambray mountain range, “truck” ride, easy hike along the Guanayara river, with El Rocio waterfall and swimming; optional night cave disco.
Day 8: Finish the tour of Trinidad, visiting one of the former palaces of wealthy sugar magnates. Departure through the former sugar region of Valle de los Ingenios with its watchtower (UNESCO) to Sanctí Spiritus, a charming town, reputedly the oldest inland town in Cuba: centre with parish church and pedestrian zone; brick Yayabo bridge and surrounding streets.
9. DAY 8: CAMAGÜEY – UNESCO
Transfer to Camagüey – a picturesque town with winding streets and churches (UNESCO); walk through the main squares and peripheral streets with a relaxed, almost rural atmosphere.
10.-11. DAY 11: SANTIAGO DE CUBA – UNESCO
Day 10: Transfer to the eastern Cuban capital of Santiago de Cuba with a stop at the Basilica of El Cobre, the most sacred church in Cuba; evening stroll in downtown Santiago.
Day 11. Ifigenia with the mausoleum of the national hero José Martí; Moncada Barracks, site of a famous revolutionary ambush in Fidel’s youth; Castillo del Morro – a rugged 17th-century defensive fortress on a rock at the mouth of Santiago Bay with views along the coast.
DAY 12-15: BARACOA, NP ALEJANDRO DE HUMBOLDT, HOLGUÍN
Day 12: Transfer to Baracoa, Cuba’s easternmost town, stopping en route at Mirador Malones overlooking the US Naval Base Guantánamo; arrival in Baracoa, the oldest city in all of Cuba, founded in 1511.
Day 13: Baracoa.
Day 14: Day trip to the Parque Nacional Alejandro de Humboldt (UNESCO).
Day 15: Departure from Baracoa, stop at Maguana or Nava beach with swimming. Arrival in Holguín, evening stroll through the provincial city center with parks and churches.
DAY 16-17: FLIGHT FROM HOLGUÍN TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC
Day 16-19: FACULTIVE LONG LASTING BY THE SEA – GUARDALAVACA
Day 16-17: Relax by the sea at the Brisas Guardalavaca**** hotel with all inclusive.
18-19TH DAY: FLIGHT FROM HOLGUIN TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC
