Tour program:
1.-2. DAY 2: BY AIR FROM PRAGUE TO PERU, AREQUIPA – UNESCO
The journey from Prague to Arequipa will take 1.5 days, depending on the airline you choose and its current flight schedule. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and rest after the long journey.
3. DAY: AREQUIPA (2 350 m)
Tour of the historic city centre, Santa Catalina Monastery, Carmen Alto viewpoint with views of the nearby El Misti volcano (5,822 m), visit to the traditional market.
4.-6. DAY: COTAHUASI CANYON (2 684 m)
Day 4: On the way to the canyon we visit the archaeological site of Toro Muerto (walk among petroglyphs in the desert), destination is one of the deepest canyons in the world Cotahuasi (3,300 m deep), overnight Cotahuasi (2,680 m).
Day 5-6: Day trips to Cotahuasi Canyon to Sipia waterfall, visit to the stone forest and salt mine near Pampamarca, overnight Cotahuasi (2 680 m).
DAY 7-8: COLCA CANYON (3 290 m)
Day 7: Transfer to the Colca Canyon (2nd deepest canyon in the world – 3 191 m) to Cabanaconde, depending on time walk in the surroundings, overnight Cabanaconde (3 290 m).
Day 8: Mirador Cruz del Condor (3 800 m), observation of wild Andean condors, breathtaking views into the depths of the canyon; stop in the town of Chivay; crossing the nature reserve “Salinas y Aguada Blanca” – a landscape of llamas, alpacas and vicuñas; on the way we cross the panoramic saddle “Mirador de los Volcanes” (4 910 m); arrival at Lake Titicaca, overnight in the town of Puno (3 830 m).
9.-10. DAY: LAKE TITICACA, FLOATING ISLANDS OF UROS, TAQUILE ISLAND AND AMANTANI
Day 9: Boat trip to the floating reed islands of Uros on Lake Titicaca, then to the natural islands of Amantani and Taquile with views of the Bolivian Cordillera Real, overnight on one of the islands with local families.
Day 10: Return from the islands, transfer to Lake Umayo; the sacred tower tombs of the Chullpas in Sillustani; viewpoint of Abra La Raya (4,335 m) and overnight in Sicuani.
11. DAY 11: Q´ESWACHAKA BRIDGE – UNESCO, INKA FOUNDATION VILLAGES
Inca Q’eswachaka rope bridge over the Apurimac River, woven and maintained by the local community in the traditional way – (UNESCO listed since 2014); visit to the friendly village and archaeological site of Raqchi – remnant of an Inca settlement and temple of the god Wiracochi; drive to Cusco.
DAY 12: CUSCO and surrounding monuments (3,300 m above sea level) – UNESCO
Sightseeing tour of Cusco and its surrounding monuments; Qenko Rock Observatory, Sacsayhuamán ceremonial site, Temple of the Sun and more.
DAY 13-14: SACRED VALLEY OF THE URUBAMBA RIVER AND MACHU PICCHU – UNESCO
Day 13: Excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Urubamba River with a visit to the Inca spa of Tambo Machay, the guard post of Puca Pucara, the Inca city of Pisaq; Ollantaytambo Fortress, panoramic train ride under Machu Picchu.
Day 14: Visit the most famous citadel of the famous Incas, the famous lost city – the magical Machu Picchu, optional with a climb to Huyana Picchu, return to Cusco (again by tourist train).
DAY 15-16: RETURN TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC BY AIR
Departure from Cusco and according to the flight schedule; departure from Lima to Europe.
EXTENSION OF THE TOUR:
DAY 15-18: LARES TREK (4 days/3 nights)
During 4 days we will hike through green valleys, mountain passes or relax at mountain lakes. We will also pass local villages that will introduce you to the life of the locals. The trek is approximately 50 km long and goes through the Lares region in the Peruvian Andes. You will be rewarded with unforgettable views of the snow-capped peaks of the Andean six-thousanders. Full board will be available on the trek, with three nights spent under rented tents. At the end of the trek, we will return to Cusco for our last night.
DAY 19-20: NAZCA AREA
Day 19: Fly from Cusco to Pisco and transfer by private car and driver to Nazca (transfer approx. 4 hours).
Day 20: Mysterious figures of the Nazca culture (depictions of monkeys, spiders and birds, etc. measuring several hundred meters – optional aerial tour (100 USD/person; implementation of the overflight depends on the current weather conditions; afternoon transfer to the capital Lima (approx. 7 hours drive).
DAY 21-22: LIMA AND RETURN TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC
Sightseeing tour of the city centre and evening scheduled flight back to Europe.
