Tour program:
1.-2. DAY 2 – 3: PRAGUE-REUNION BY AIR
Upon arrival, transfer to the Salazie Crater and the town of Hell Bourg – trekking centre, interesting Creole architecture; rest, sightseeing, preparation for the trek.
3.-5. DAY 5: RÉUNION – TREKKING THROUGH THE INACCESSIBLE MAFATE CRATER
Transfer to the rim of the Mafate crater; descend into the caldera, the Deux Fesses saddle with the backdrop of the dominant landscape of Piton Cabri to the heart of Mafate. Down the Galette River; swimming in the river and hiking up the Roche Plate, thence past the magnificent Trois Roches waterfall to the highest settlement of Marla; views of the breathtaking peaks of Grand Bénare and Gros Morne.
6. DAY 6: RÉUNION – OVER THE CRATER RIM TO THE TOWN OF CILAOS
Hike up to the Col du Taibit, from here beautiful views of both craters; descend to Cilaos – sightseeing, rest.
7.-8. DAY 8: RÉUNION – SUMMIT OF PITON DES NEIGES
Ascent of the highest mountain of the island , Piton des Neiges (3070 m); “journey into prehistory” as you descend through the Bélouve forest in the Salazie crater.
9. DAY 9: RÉUNION – THE CIRCLE CLOSES, TROU DE FER WATERFALLS, HELL BOURG
Descend through the Tamarind forests to the horseshoe-shaped waterfalls of Trou de Fer; descend to Hell Bourg and transfer to St. Denis – car hire. Accommodation in a hotel by the sea.
10. DAY 10: RÉUNION – ACTIVE VOLCANO PITON DE LA FOURNAISE
Early morning transfer by rental car to the active volcano Piton de la Fournaise. Hike to the rim of the active Dolomieu crater and visit the unique volcanic display in Bourg Murat.
DAY 11-12: RÉUNION – PROGRAMME BY THE SEA
Centre of seaside life St. Gilles les Bains, sandy beaches and swimming; Jardin d’Eden botanical garden; Aquarium de la Réunion. The most famous viewpoint of the island of Maido; flight to Mauritius, accommodation in a hotel by the sea.
DAY 13: MAURITIUS – N PART OF THE ISLAND AND CAPITAL PORT LUISE
Excursion to Port Luis, the multicultural capital where different cultures and religions collide. Visit the Blue Penny Museum – a museum of postage stamps featuring the famous Blue Mauritius and the central market. A stroll through the Botanical Gardens of Pamplemousses, the oldest garden in the southern hemisphere with giant water lilies, and swimming at the beaches of Grand Baie.
DAY 14: MAURITIUS – TEA PLANTATION, CHAMARELL WATERFALL AND NP BLACK RIVER GORGES
Transfer to the central part of the island to the Bois Chéri tea plantation (visit to the tea processing factory with tasting). Transfer to Terre de couleurs, geological formations with different coloured sand dunes, view of the Chamarell waterfall. Visit to the Black River Gorges NP, the last part of the rainforest on the island, short hike. Afternoon stop and swim at the beaches on the west coast.
DAY 15: MAURITIUS – FREE DAY, OPTIONAL CATAMARAN TRIP
Free day at sea, optional full day catamaran trip to the northern or eastern islands (with snorkelling).
DAY 16-17: MAURICIUS – PART OF THE ISLAND, BY AIR MAURICIUS – PRAGUE
Transfer to the eastern part of the island, visit to Vieux Grand Port – the landing place of the first inhabitants and the historical fortress, according to the departure time the town of Mahébourg and farewell to the island on the Blue Bay beach, swimming. Transfer to the airport, evening departure, return to the Czech Republic the next day.

- insurance for medical expenses or cancellation fees (we are happy to arrange)
Note: In Mauritius, drive on the left. If you are not a proficient driver and do not dare to drive on the other side, we can arrange a private transfer with a local driver!
Difficulty of the trek:
You can do the trek on what we call a “semi-difficult” trek as we do not need to carry you:
- equipment not needed for the trek – these items and luggage can be stored at the first night’s hut, where you will return again after eight days
- more food – you can pay for half board at the huts
