Trip program:

1.-10. DAY 1 – 2: WANDERING AROUND THE MONT BLANC MASSIF

Day 1: Afternoon flight from Prague to Geneva, transfer to hotel and check in.

Day 2: Morning bus departure from Geneva to Chamonix, a centre of alpine hiking and skiing situated at the foot of Europe’s highest mountain. Afternoon walk around the city, preparing for the trek.

Day 3: Transfer by train and bus to the village of Les Contamines-Montjoie from where our journey will begin. We will start slowly from the picturesque church of Notre-Dame de la Gorge along the gorge with the river Le Bonnant. We will then start climbing up the slopes of Mont Tond to the Col de la Croix du Bonhomme (2443 m), (14 km, ↑1330 m, ↓23 m).

Day 4: In the morning, we will continue our ascent to the scenic peak of Tête Nord des Fours (2756 m), from where we will start our descent to the Vallée des Glaciers (glacial valley), above which a series of 3,000m peaks rise. We reach the Refuge des Mottets hut (1864 m), located at the end of the valley (10 km, ↑400 m, ↓1000 m). Possibility of an afternoon ascent to the Col de l’Oullion (2612 m).

Day 5. In the morning we will climb the Col de la Seigne (2515 m), where we will cross the national border and enter Italy. We will then descend into the Val Veny valley and again climb to the Chécrouit saddle (1952 m) where we will spend the night. We will have nice views of the Italian side of the Mont Blanc massif and the Glacier Blanche and Glacier Miage glaciers falling into the valley (17.5 km, ↑1000 m, ↓1100 m).

Day 6. From there we will take the bus through the Val Ferret valley to its end. Here we will put on our backpacks again and continue our journey. From the village of Arp Nouvaz (1760 m) we will climb to the Grand Col Ferret (2537 m), where we will cross the border into Switzerland. We descend to the village of Ferret, ev. Le Clou. Again we will use public transport or taxi to approach our accommodation (13 km, ↑800 up, ↓1000).

Day 7: Today is probably the furthest we will be from the main summit of Mont Blanc. However, it will be replaced by views of the equally attractive and glaciated peaks of Aiguille d’Argentiére (3901 m), Aiguille du Tour (3542 m), etc. From Lake Champex-Lac we will choose a shorter but steeper option via the Fenêtre d’Arpette saddle (2665 m), where we will have a beautiful view of the massive Trient glacier falling into the valley of the same name. From the saddle we will descend to the village of Trient, where we will spend the night (14/16 km, ↑1200/800 m, ↓1400/1000 m).

Day 8: In the morning we will say goodbye to Switzerland, after climbing the Col de Balme (2191 m) (possibility of a short detour to the Croix de Fer (2343 m)) we will move again to France. After a few days, we will once again have a view of the summit of Mont Blanc itself. From the saddle we will follow the ridge of the Crête des Posettes to Montroc, ev. Argentière (15 km (19.5 km), ↑1100 m, ↓1150 m).

Day 9: Today will be the icing on the cake. The last stage will be done “lightly”, i.e. with a smaller backpack. We will start in Chamonix, from where we will take the cable car to the station Le Brévent (2525 m). We will take the famous Grand Balcon du Sud scenic route. We will have spectacular views of the peaks of Aiguilles du Midi (3 842 m), Aiguilles Verte (4 122 m), Les Grandes Jorasses (4 208 m), the Mer de Glace glacier and Mont Blanc itself (4 810 m). Depending on your condition, we will reach Argentiére, ev. We will take the cable car from La Flégère chalet to Chamonix (12.8 km, ↑200 m, ↓1400 m).
