Chile, Argentina, Patagonia, Iguazú Falls and Uruguay

1-2. DAY: BY AIR PRAGUE – IGUAZÚ WATERFALLS

Departure from Prague to Iguazú Falls; tour of Iguazú NP (UNESCO) from the Brazilian side.

3. DAY 2: IGUAZÚ FALLS

Waterfalls from the Argentinian side; train to the impressive Devil’s Backbone viewpoint, then walk through the park at your own pace – many unforgettable views and photo stops; optional visit to the Itaipú Dam (one of the seven modern technical wonders of the world) in the afternoon.

4. DAY 7: IGUAZÚ FALLS – BUENOS AIRES

For those interested, walk to the tri-border area of Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil or rest at the hotel; flight to Buenos Aires according to the flight schedule.

5. DAY 5: BUENOS AIRES

Sightseeing tour of the capital of Argentina; visit to the Italian quarter La Boca – typical for its colourful houses, the presidential palace with its balcony, made famous by Evita’s speeches, the cathedral with the remains of General San Martín – the liberator of Argentina or the Recoleta cemetery – resting place of the most influential Argentines; the evening can be spent with tango or authentic Argentine steak.

6. DAY 6: URUGUAY: COLONIA DEL SACRAMENTO (UNESCO)

We will cross by boat to Uruguay to visit a town where time has literally stood still – the colonial Colonia del Sacramento (a UNESCO heritage site), the cobblestone streets – the famous “Street of Sighs” – Calle de los Suspiros, the cathedral and the lighthouse with its beautiful views; afternoon return to Buenos Aires.

7.-8. DAY 8: USHUAIA, THE LAND OF FIRE – NP TIERRA DEL FUEGO

Day 7: Fly south to the Land of Fire – the capital of Ushuaia, considered the southernmost city in the world. Walking tour in Tierra del Fuego National Park; panoramic views of snow-capped mountain peaks and the bay.

Day 8: Beagle Channel cruise combined with a walk among penguins – a full day excursion. Begins with a cruise along the Beagle Channel past Isla de los Lobos (bird colony, sea lions), Pájaros and Eclaireurs Lighthouse. Disembarkation at Isla Martillo and here walk among penguins (1 hour); visit the Acatushún Museum (museum of seabirds and mammals) at Estancia Haberton; return to Ushuaia.

9. DAY 8: EL CALAFATE – PATAGONIA

Transfer to El Calafate, a town on the shores of Lago Argentino; optional visit to Glaciaria (glacier museum).

10. DAY 10: PERITO MORENO (UNESCO)

Trip to Los Glaciares NP to the Perito Moreno glacier, from whose walls (5 km wide and 60 m high) pieces of ice are constantly breaking off and falling with a crash into the lake; in the afternoon transfer to Chile to the town of Puerto Natales – the gateway to the Torres del Paine Park.

11. DAY 11: NP TORRES DEL PAINE (UNESCO)

Hike through Torres del Paine NP with stops for beautiful views of the famous peaks of Los Cuernos and Torres, blue lakes, pabu forests and pampas with its animal inhabitants, guanaco llamas and nandu ostriches.

DAY 12: LOCAL FARM AND PUNTA ARENAS

A walk through the Patagonian landscape, rock paintings and for those interested, a roast lamb at the end of the trip. In the afternoon, transfer to the port town of Punta Arenas – a guided walk.

DAY 13: FLIGHT TO NORTH CHILE – DESERT AREA AROUND SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA

Air transfer from Punta Arenas, via Santiago de Chile and on schedule to Calama; from there, drive to the desert town of San Pedro de Atacama.

DAY 14: EL TATIO GEYSERS, THERMAL SPRINGS, VALLE DE LA LUNA

Morning trip to the highest geothermal field in the world (4 300 m) with more than 80 geysers, the highest of which, El Tatio, gushes up to 30 m; for those interested, a bath in the thermal springs; the village of Machuca with its wooden church and return to San Pedro; afternoon drive to Valle de la Luna (translated as ‘valley of the moon’); sand dunes, Las Tres Marias natural salt monument; sunset.

DAY 15: SALAR DE ATACAMA DESERT, SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA

Excursion to the world’s driest desert , the Salar de Atacama; visit to the desert village of Toconao, flamingo colony and salt lakes; leisurely evening in San Pedro de Atacama.

DAY 16: CALAMA – SANTIAGO DE CHILE

According to the flight schedule, transfer to Calama and from there fly to Santiago de Chile, the capital of Chile.

DAY 17: VALPARAÍSO

Visit to the port city of Valparaíso (UNESCO) – sightseeing; transfer to the nearby Casablanca Valley, which, thanks to its location between the coast and the mountain range, has an ideal climate for growing grapes. Visit to a local vineyard with an excursion tasting delicious Chilean wines.

DAY 18-19: RETURN TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC

Walking tour of the capital city centre, afternoon transfer to the airport and flight to Europe. Arrive in Prague the following day.
