Tour program:

1.-2. DAY 2-2: MUNICH – WINDHOEK

Fly from Munich to the capital of Namibia – Windhoek; arrival around noon. At the airport you will be met by a representative of a local tour operator who will hand over everything you need; pick up your expedition car and transfer to your first campsite with a possible stop in Windhoek.

3.-4. DAY 4 – 4. DAY: WINDHOEK – NAMIB, SOSSUVLEI

Transfer to the Namib Desert – to the famous Sossuvlei – an area of monumental Saharan-type sand dunes, often over 300 m high; exploration of the area and its biggest attractions: climbing the famous Big Daddy and Dune 45 (up to 300 m high), the most photographed Hiddenvlei and Deadvlei basins – the so-called “Hiddenvlei”. The Dead Swamp with the dried-up stems of centuries-old acacia trees in contrast to the orange dunes and blue sky; visit to Sesriem Canyon; a chance to see the African seahorse and many other animals (meerkats, jackals, ostriches, chameleons).

5. DAY 5: NAMIB – SWAKOPMUND

Drive through the Naukluft mountains (limestone mountains reaching up to 2000 m) to the coastal town of Swakopmund; visit the town centre with colonial architecture, the lighthouse and monument to the fallen Germans, the town museum with an exhibition of animals and local ethnic groups or objects from the colonial period.

6. DAY 6: WALWIS BAY – MARINE DUNE DAY:

Cruise on Walvis Bay with animal watching (colony of flamingos, pelicans, sea lions or dolphins), in the afternoon drive in off-road cars with local drivers to the desert (lunch included).

7. DAY 7: DAMARALAND

Drive north along the Skeleton Coast – one of the most inhospitable places on earth to Damaraland; the largest sea lion colony in Cape Cross, Burnt Mountain and Organ Pipes; many stalls with local products along the route, a wide range of minerals and semi-precious stones.

8. DAY: TWYFELFONTEIN – UNESCO MONUMENT, NP ETOSHA

Heritage site and open gallery of rock paintings and engravings of the Bushmen (more than 2500 of them); Lion Plate with Lion Man; Petrified Forest; drive further north to Etosha NP, possibility to visit a traditional Himb village; drive further north to Etosha NP.

DAY 9 – 10: ETOSHA NP

Safari in Etosha NP; a large salt desert basin that is home to 114 species of animals and 340 species of birds; watering holes attracting a large number of animals – elephants, lions, leopards, impalas, cheetahs and many more; each safari is unique.

11. DAY 11: OKONJIMA NATURE RESERVE

Transfer south from Etosha to Okonjima Nature Reserve, a rescue and rehabilitation center for rescuing felines.

DAY 12: FLY OVER WINDHOEK – CAPE TOWN

Morning departure to Windhoek airport, return the car and fly to Cape Town, transfer to the hotel, early evening walk in the harbour area.

DAY 13-14: CAPE TOWN AND SURROUNDINGS

A full day of sightseeing in and around Cape Town; a chauffeur-driven car will be available (from 9am-5pm); we recommend e.g. Sightseeing, a ride to Table Mountain – the symbol of South Africa and an unforgettable panorama of Cape Town and the peninsula (cable car optional), a tour of Green market Square, as well as the oldest building in the city, the Castle of Good Hope, the Cape of Good Hope, observation of unique flora and fauna, Cape Point, Simon’s Town and Boulder Beach with the spectacled penguin colonies, evening Waterfront with the waterfront and promenade and other options (Two Ocean’s Aquarium, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, City Bowl district with museums and Victorian or Art Deco architecture).

DAY 15-16: STELLENBOSCH VINEYARDS

Transfer to the Stellenbosch vineyards and have the opportunity to visit different vineyards and participate in tastings (free entry, only tastings are paid).

DAY 17: FLIGHT BACK TO MUNICH
