Tour program:

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU.

Individual arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel.

2. DAY 2: KATHMANDU, PATHAN AND SWAYAMBHUNATH ASCENT

Kathmandu – tour of the royal city of Patan and the sacred stupa of Swayambhunath towering over the capital.

3.-4. DAY 4 – 4: START OF THE TREK, SOTI KHOLA, MACHHAKHOLA

Transfer by minibus from the capital to the start of the Himalayan trek to Arughat Bazar and then by jeep to the village of Soti Khola. On the second day, we start our trekking journey, heading up the Buri Ghandaki River to the village of Machhakhola (869 m).

5.-6. DAY 6: TREKKING – JAGAT, DENG

During our journey, we will pass through the village of Tatopani with its hot springs, cross several suspension bridges over the Buri Ghandaki River and its tributaries and after several ascents and descents reach the village of Jagat (1340 m) where we will spend the night. The next day we will climb to Philim, a village of the Gurung ethnic group, admire a waterfall in the Ganesh Himal escarpment and enter the high mountain range with pine groves; we will spend the night in Deng village (1860 m).

7.-8. DAY 7: TREKKING – NAMRUNG, LHO

As the altitude increases, the trail changes its character, we pass several chortens, before the village of Bihi zith Mani, pass through pine and juniper groves and head through the gorge to the village of Ghap, overnight at Namrung (2630 m). After some more challenging stages, we choose a short route this day, heading to Lho village (3180) m and visiting the local Ribung Monastery in the afternoon. During the journey we will enjoy beautiful views of the eight-thousand-foot Manaslu.

9.-11. DAY 11: TREKKING – SAMA, SAMDO

Due to the necessary acclimatization we will slow down our progress, in the morning we will reach the village of Sama (3520 m), where we will spend 2 nights. In the afternoon we will make a trip to Birendra Tal lake, towards Manaslu base camp. The following day we will make an acclimatization climb to the small monastery of Pungyen in the slopes of Manaslu. On the twelfth day of the program, our trek continues with a gentle climb through a wide valley to the village of Samdo (3865 m), and in the afternoon we will make a short exploration to a chorten above the village from where we will observe unforgettable mountain panoramas and sunset.

DAY 12-13: TREKKING – DHARMASALA, LARKYA LA SADDLE, BIMTHANG

In the morning we will climb to Dharmasala (4460 m) where we will spend the night. During the day, we will have beautiful views of Manaslu North and the northeast face of the eight-thousand-foot Manaslu. In the afternoon we will take a short acclimatization trip in the surrounding area. Then we will have the most challenging day of our trek, crossing the Larkya La saddle (5160 m). From the saddle we will observe panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks (Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, Annapurna II, etc.) in good weather, descending to the village of Bimthang (3590 m).

DAY 14-15: TREKKING – TILIAS, CHYAMCHE

From Bimthang, we trek through the beautiful changing landscape, through rhododendron groves and along the Dudh Khola River to Tilije (2255 m). From here we will reach the village of Chyamche (1430 m) the following day, passing several waterfalls and the Mani Wall on the way, and ending our journey along this route.

DAY 16: TRANSFER TO BESISAHAR AND KATHMANDU

Transfer by jeeps to Besisahar and bus back to Kathmandu.

DAY 17: KATHMANDU, PASHUPATINATH, BHAKTAPUR AND BODHNAATH BURNING GHATS

Kathmandu – visit the temple complex and the funerary burning ghats of Pashupatinath, transfer to the second royal city of Bhaktapur with handicrafts in the streets, visit the most revered Buddhist stupa of Bodhnatha, which is an important centre of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal.

DAY 18: DEPARTURE FROM KATHMANDU

Transfer to the airport, departure.

  • extra charge for single room in Kathmandu – 1650 CZK/person/trip (We cannot guarantee single rooms on the trek. If available, the fee will be paid directly on the spot.)

Price does not include – payable locally:

  • Nepalese visa – 50 USD (to be arranged upon arrival at the airport),
  • porter for the whole trek (recommended in pairs) – 300 USD/trek/20 kg + baksheesh,
  • other meals, (on trek see separate section below),
  • other individual transport around Kathmandu – rickshaw etc.,
  • entrance fees to heritage sites in Nepal,
  • bakshish to guides, drivers, porters and other staff.

Meals:
There are a number of restaurants in Kathmandu with a wide variety of food. On the trek it is possible to eat in the lodges we will be staying in, there is a choice of menus. For breakfast they usually prepare eggs in different ways, porridge, flour pancakes and soups. For dinner the menu usually includes several types of soups, pasta – noodles, potatoes, dal bath (lentils and rice), eggs and vegetables. Meals are mostly vegetarian and for hygiene reasons we do not recommend eating locally sourced meat on the trek. The cost of a full day’s meals ranges from 25-35 USD/person/day.

Program difficulty:
This is a 12 day walking, trekking program where you will complete approximately 6-7 hours of walking and 500-1000 vertical meters of climbing per day. The maximum altitude reached is 5160m when crossing the Larkya La saddle. The initial part of the trek is undulating in nature, during the day we will climb high above the Buri Ghandaki River several times and descend again into the valley. In the second part we will then climb gently up to the Larkya La saddle. The trails we will follow are mostly dirt or rocky and we will cross many suspension bridges along the way. The program is suitable for individuals in good physical condition, used to trekking for several days in the mountains with a backpack on their back.

Porters:
To facilitate the hiking program, we recommend that you order a porter to carry some of your gear. A porter can carry a maximum of 20 kg and the total weight it carries is usually enough for a couple. In the backpack during the day you would then only carry your personal belongings, small food and spare clothes in case of bad weather. If you are a single person, please let us know your interest. We will try to pair you up with another single participant. We will order porters in advance according to your interest. Payment is made on the spot in USD.

Suitable period for completing this program:
This tour can be taken in two main seasons, except for the monsoon season which is from June to September. The spring season, from March to May, generally has hot days with occasional rain showers that gradually diminish. Magnolia and rhododendron forests bloom beautifully in the foothills of the Himalayas. The period from October to November is characterised by clear skies, slightly cooler weather and generally good visibility. Temperatures in Kathmandu range between 22-28 °C in spring and autumn. At an altitude of around 3000 m, around 13-17 °C during the day, and at higher altitudes around 10 °C. At night and in bad weather, temperatures drop below freezing and it can snow.
