By air Prague – Palma de Mallorca, transfer to Estellencs, the starting point of our journey. If there is time, we will explore the surrounding area – the town of Andraxt or the west coast of the island.
2-8. DAY 8-8: CROSSING THE SERRA DE TRAMUNTANA
In seven days we will cross almost the entire Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, located on the northwest coast of Mallorca. The mountain range here is born directly from the sea and is mainly made up of limestone, where over millions of years mountain-building processes and the Mediterranean climate have created a unique collection of unusually diverse karst formations – steep slopes dropping down to the sea, deep gorges and gorges, clusters of bizarre rock towers, giant pots or dark rock caverns. In recent millennia, man has begun to transform this wild landscape. For these reasons, the Serra de Tramuntana was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2011.
During our journey we will visit several mountain towns, which will also be the place to spend the early evening and our overnight stay. One of them is Valldemossa, surrounded by the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range. There is a Carthusian royal monastery – Cartoixa de Valldemossa, where the famous composer Frédéric François Chopin stayed. The village of Lluc, with its pilgrimage site of Santuari de Lluc and its Black Madonna, is also of importance. Afternoon relaxation with a cup of coffee or sunsets with a glass of local specialities will only enhance their unique charm. Our journey between these places will be lined with oak groves, citrus and olive orchards and, of course, it will be enriched by stunning views of the rugged northwest coast and the island’s interior. The landscape is varied, each stage has a different – unforgettable character.
We have divided the crossing of the Serra de Tramuntana into the following seven stages:
Estellenc – Esporles: 14 km, ↑ 700 m / ↓ 660 m
Esporles – Valldemossa: 11 km, ↑ 600 m / ↓ 400 m
Valldemossa – Deià: 13 km, ↑ 700 m / ↓ 900 m
Deià – Port de Sóller: 12 km, ↑ 370 / ↓ 540 m
Sóller – Tossals Verds: 19 km, ↑ 1350 m / ↓ 800 m
Tossals Verds – Lluc: 14.8 km, ↑ 800 m / ↓ 850 m
Lluc – Pollença: 14 km, ↑ 300 m / ↓ 700 m (transfer to Port de Pollença)

After a few days of wandering, there is time to relax by the sea, swimming – but this programme is also possible for those interested:
Exploring the north and east coast of the island. We start the day with a sunrise at the northernmost tip of the island, Cape de Formentor, with views of high cliffs dropping dramatically right into the azure-coloured sea. We then move to the east coast to the town of Portocristo. Here we visit the Coves del Drac cave, where trails take us to the shores of one of the largest underground lakes in the world. For example, we will discover the corners of the picturesque historic town of Alcudia. We’ll end the day in Port de Pollenca, which has a pleasant coastal promenade or beautiful beaches.
