Tour program:
DAY 1: BY AIR TO PERU
Arrival in the capital of Peru – Lima; transfer to the hotel, rest after a long journey.
2. DAY: LIMA – UNESCO MONUMENT, CITY TOUR
Morning half-day tour of the historic part of the city – Plaza Mayor with the Cathedral, the Presidential Palace, the Park of Love on the Pacific Coast and the modern Mirafores district; afternoon transfer south along the coast through the desert landscape to the Paracas Peninsula.
3. DAY 2: NP PARACAS, BALLESTAS ISLANDS, HUACACHINA DESERT OASIS
Boat trip to the steep rocky islands of Ballestas (NP Paracas) inhabited by colonies of seabirds (pelicans, cormorants and others), sea lions and penguins; the route passes along the Paracas “El Candelabrio” carved into the rock; transfer to Nazca and stop on the way at the desert oasis of Huacachina, a lake situated between huge sand dunes.
4. DAY 4: NAZCA – UNESCO MONUMENT, CHAUCHILLA CEMETERY
Optional aerial tour over the Nazca plain – mysterious Nazca culture images (monkey, spider and bird depictions measuring several hundred metres); flight is limited by current weather conditions; visit to a cemetery from the period of ancient local cultures with mummies, followed by a crossing of the desert with views of the Pacific Ocean to Arequipa.
5. DAY 5: AREQUIPA (2,350 m) – UNESCO MONUMENT
Sightseeing tour of the historic city centre with a visit to the Santa Catalina Monastery; afternoon sightseeing tour of Carmen Alto with views of the nearby El Misti volcano (5,822m); visit to the traditional market.
DAY 6 – 7: CHIVAY AND COLCA CANYON (3,290m)
Day 6: Transfer to the town of Chivay (3,630 m above sea level) at the Colca Canyon (one of the deepest canyons in the world); sightseeing and swimming in the thermal baths.
Day 7.Arrival in the village of Chucuito on the shores of Lake Titicaca (3 830 m).
8. DAY: LAKE TITICACA – UROS ISLANDS, TRANSFER TO BOLIVIA, COPACABANA
Excursion to the floating reed islands of Uros on Lake Titicaca; transfer along the lake to Bolivia – the famous pilgrimage town of Copacabana (3 800 m above sea level); sunset viewing from the ancient observatory.
9. DAY: COPACABANA – ISLAND OF THE SUN AND MOON (3 800 – 4000 m)
Tour Copacabana – the famous cathedral dedicated to the Holy Virgin of Copcabana; boat trip to the Isles of the Sun and Moon with lunch and stunning views of the lake, the Peruvian coastline and the snow-capped six-thousanders of Bolivia’s Cordillera Real. The mythical places where the first Incas came out into the world to found their glorious empire. A stop in the Aymara village of Sampaya – a place where time stood still.
10. DAY 10: PERU- LAKE UMAYO
Along Lake Titicaca back to Peru to Lake Umayo; the sacred tower tombs of Chullpas in Sillustani; the viewpoint of Abra La Raya (4,335 m) and overnight in Sicuani.
11. DAY 11: Q´ESWACHACA BRIDGE – UNESCO MONUMENT, INKA FOUNDATION VILLAGES
Inca Q´eswachaca cable-stayed bridge over the Apurimac River, woven and maintained by the local community in the traditional way (UNESCO-listed since 2014); visit to the friendly village and archaeological site of Raqchi – remnant of an Inca settlement and temple of the god Wiracochi; arrival in Cusco.
DAY 12: CUSCO AND VICINITY (3,300 m) – UNESCO World Heritage Site
Sightseeing tour of Cusco and its surroundings; Quenko rock observatory, Sacsayhuamán ceremonial site, Temple of the Sun.
DAY 13: TAMBOMACHAY, VALLE SAGRADO, PISAQ, OLLANTAYTAMBO
From Cusco to the Andean town of Pisaq, stroll through one of the most beautiful Inca towns with panoramic views, possible shopping for Andean artesanias in the famous market; visit the historic town of Ollantaytambo.
DAY 14 – 15: TRAVEL TO MACHU PICCHU (2,400 m) – UNESCO MONUMENT
Day 14: Travel by bus over the Abra Málaga saddle (4,230 m) with views of the Andean giants, learning about the different vegetation zones, to the village of Santa María; lunch in Santa Teresa; hike along the Urubamba River with views of Machu Pichu (approx. 10 km, 3 hours); optional train transfer; evening swimming in the thermal baths of Aguas Calientes.
Day 15: Visit the most amazing citadel of the famous Incas, the famous lost city – the magical Machu Picchu with a climb to Huyana Picchu; return to Cusco by tourist train.
DAY 16: CUSCO, RAINBOW MOUNTAIN VINICUNCA
Free day in Cusco or optional trip to the “Rainbow Mountain ” – Vinicunca, which is part of the sacred Ausangate Mountain, climbing up to 5000 m (good physical condition required).
DAY 17 – 18: DEPARTURE FROM PERU TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC, RETURN THE FOLLOWING DAY
OPTION TO EXTEND THE TOUR (BEFORE THE MAIN PROGRAMME) – North of Peru: Lord of Sipán, Mochica culture, Chan Chan
1. – 2. DAY 2: PRAGUE – LIMA – CHICLAYO
Fly from Prague to Lima and the next day, according to the flight schedule, fly to the north of Peru to the town of Chiclayo.
3. DAY 2: ARCHAEOLOGICAL DISCOVERY OF THE CENTURY – THE LORD OF SIPÁN, THE MOCHE CULTURE
Sights around Chiclayo: burial site of Huaca Rajada – tomb of the Lord of Sipán; Tucume – city of pyramids, magical museum of treasures of the royal tombs of Tumbas Reales de Sipán in Lambayeque, overnight Chiclayo.
4. DAY 4: CHICLAYO, DRIVE ALONG THE COAST
Sightseeing tour of Chiclayo – the cathedral and the local market, in the afternoon transfer by regular bus along the Pacific Ocean to Trujillo. The “Peruvian hairless dog” was also bred in this area of the Moche culture.
5. Day 5.
Chan Chan – capital of the famous Chimú Empire, whose goldsmiths created the treasure of the Incas; seaside town of Huanchaco and overnight.
6. DAY 6: THE FAMOUS MOCHICA CULTURE – THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CERAMICS IN THE AMERICAS
In the morning visit to the pyramids, temples and palaces of the archaeological site of El Brujo, one of the most important cultures of the Americas – Moche, in the afternoon transfer to Lima and continue the MAIN PROGRAMME.
